| Since its founding in 1941, the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors has made every effort to promote the common good and welfare of its members, to promote the highest standards of professional practice and ethics, to promote uniformity of practice and the discouragement of unethical or illegal practices and professional abuses. With nine chapters and more than 1,000 members, the MSPS blends annual meetings, seminars, nine active Chapters, productive committees, student chapters at two universities, Ferris State and Michigan Tech, and participation in the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, the National Society of Professional Surveyors, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. Combined with a progressive Board of Directors, the MSPS continues to be among the leaders in the Professional Surveying community. Through the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors Foundation, the Michigan Museum of Surveying is housed in shared office/museum space in downtown Lansing.
