Schronstedt program: Thank you to the chapters for their generous donations to “A Worthy Cause”. Enough funds were collected to purchase five mine detectors. A check has been sent for the cause.
BLM books: There are no more BLM books available from the Central office. The books can still be purchased through the ACSM website. www.acsm.net and follow the link to the eStore
Communications Committee: Responses from the exit letters have been helpful in evaluating the exit decision of former members. The majority of the responses involve loss of employment and retirement. The committee will continue to evaluate the responses as they are returned.
Continuing Competency: It is reported that the Continuing Competency will go to the legislature soon. If it is defeated the first time around it will be reintroduced next year.
Unlicensed Activity: MSPS sent a letter to the State Police encouraging an investigation pertaining to an unlicensed individual practicing surveying in the Otsego County area. An arraignment is scheduled in 87th District Court in Gaylord on Thursday, July 15th for practicing Land Surveying without a license.
Seminar Committee: The June seminar on legal issues was well attended. The next seminar is scheduled for July 27 in Iron Mountain and July 29 in Clare. The speaker, Dennis Mouland from Arizona will be speaking on the 21st Century PLSS. Register Now.
Executive Director Search: The search continues for the right person for the Executive Director. Interviews have been held and the process is moving forward with verification of references, background checks and second interviews.
President’s Cup Walleye Tournament was well attended with 12 boats participating. The winners this year were from the Central chapter. Phil Norder and the team from Consumers Energy landed the largest walleye of the tournament which weighed 5.84 lbs. That fish also won the side bet as it narrowly edged out a 5.64 lb. catfish that Captain Pat Bentley’s team landed.
